I think it is great for both new and experienced players alike. While some of the items listed are more expensive, the bones of the build are not, and you can safely substitute whatever you have available until you acquire more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#ffe82e\">The Build<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"571\" height=\"514\" src=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Build.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-986\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Build.png 571w, https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Build-300x270.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While Kits &amp; Modules will vary with profession and build, the following equipment is widely considered \u201cbest in slot\u201d for almost every ground build at this time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Burnham%27s_Determination#Burnham.27s_CQC_Armor\" target=\"_blank\">Burnham\u2019s CQC Armor<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Na%27kuhl_Temporal_Operative#Na.27kuhl_Temporal_Operative_Personal_Shield\" target=\"_blank\">Na\u2019kuhl Temporal Operative Personal Shield<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Na%27kuhl_Temporal_Operative#Na'kuhl_Temporal_Operative_Assault\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Na%27kuhl_Temporal_Operative#Na'kuhl_Temporal_Operative_Assault\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Na&#8217;kuhl Temporal Operative Assault<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Na\u2019Kuhl weapon is not used in combat, but should be equipped in the secondary weapon slot for its 2-piece set bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe there is only one true <a href=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/ground-skill-tree\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/ground-skill-tree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ground skill tree<\/a>. The Commando and Temporal specializations are also the best choices for ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And then of course, there&#8217;s the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Plasma_Wide_Beam_Rifle\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Plasma_Wide_Beam_Rifle\">Plasma Wide Beam Rifle<\/a>. Keeping the max 5 stacks up near-permanently is very easy: besides Rally Cry and Motivation, simply <em>crouching<\/em> (with Commando spec) will heal enough to build stacks! Almost 55% bonus range\/melee damage!<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ground Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Slot 1 is dynamic. Buff up with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Gambling_Device\" target=\"_blank\">Gambling Device<\/a> (best choice) or your best tribble buff, and then swap to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Fractal_Remodulator\" target=\"_blank\">Fractal Remodulator<\/a> (if fighting Borg with energy weapons).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slot 2: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Large_Kit_Overbooster\" target=\"_blank\">Large Kit Overbooster<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slot 3: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Shard_of_Possibilities\" target=\"_blank\">Shard of Possibilities<\/a> \u2013 And you thought one of me was great!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slot 4: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Paradox_Corrector\" target=\"_blank\">Paradox Corrector<\/a> \u2013 Self resurrection? Yes, thank you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slot 5: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/stowiki.net\/wiki\/Temporal_Flux_Generator\" target=\"_blank\">Temporal Flux Generator<\/a> &#8211; pop this and you can activate any console while under fire, among other uses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have the money\/R&amp;D to burn, I cannot stress the importance of the Large Kit Overboosters. The kit performance is actually a garnish, their cooldown reduction is the real juice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until you have those items, use the best devices you can. Now that we have 5 device slots, I do find myself using pets more often (especially the double Targs). the Warfare Master &#8211; in a space doff slot while you are focusing on ground!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#ffe82e\">Strategy Discussion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Tactical captain, we have the luxury of access to many damage-buffing kits which allows us to mow through just about anything. This is great because they can all be placed on the spam bar, keeping things nice and simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"140\" src=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Ability-Tray.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-984\" srcset=\"https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Ability-Tray.png 375w, https:\/\/informationanarchy.org\/sto\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Ground-Ranged-Ability-Tray-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ground Ranged Ability Tray<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the image above, everything in row #2 is on my spam key except the last two slots. The Kit Overboosters (also spammed) and Tactical Initiative pretty much keep cooldown timers minimized, allowing maximum buff uptime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because we don&#8217;t need to use a lot of deployable kits, we excel at fighting on the move. A movement-enhancing kit (Motion Accelerator or Coordinated Synergies) is very valuable to us. Motion Accelerator does not buff ranged damage, but it grants invulnerability to movement-impairing effects which is often even more valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I rarely use more than a single damage-dealing kit (manually triggered), and the Ambush kit takes any damage-dealing attack to the next level. I do not always save Ambush for my damage-dealing kit, however, as Ambush is also excellent when paired with the Plasma Wide Beam&#8217;s secondary attack. Ambush is also manually triggered to precisely control timing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An important note about the Plasma Wide Beam Rifle: it&#8217;s secondary attack is amazing and should be prioritized over the primary attack. I recommend using auto-fire and be sure to right-click the secondary attack first, so that it fires whenever it is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: Even though I use auto-fire (set to &#8220;Toggle, never cancel&#8221;), I do manually control it during combat by pressing my #1 or #2 key. One of the best tips I can give players is: Learn how to stop firing! It will help you time other abilities (like Ambush and other buffs) and it will help you not take aggro when you don&#8217;t want it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally taken because of their DPS-boosting effects, Rally Cry is also possibly the most effective heal in the game and Motivation isn&#8217;t a bad heal either. They also have the benefit of essentially being passive heals since they are spammed.
